Sauvignon Elena Walch 2024

The Sauvignon from the Elena Walch winery is a fresh and elegant white wine produced in Alto Adige in the area surrounding Lake Caldaro, from one of those realities that have significantly contributed to the qualitative revolution of the region. This label is made from pure Sauvignon grapes sourced from vineyards located at an altitude that reaches up to 600 meters, with southeast and southwest exposure. The vineyards are true terraces of porphyry quartz, trained to a spurred cordon on soils characterized by limestone stones and dolomitic rocks mixed with sands. The winery, run by Elena Walch and her husband, along with their two daughters Julia and Karoline, promotes a sustainable viticulture idea through the practice of green manuring and the use of organic substances in the vineyard, minimizing treatments with the aim of obtaining healthy, high-quality grapes.

The Sauvignon from Elena Walch is produced with hand-picked and carefully selected grapes during the September harvest. These are then brought to the winery very quickly to maintain the aromatic properties of the variety. The bunches are gently pressed to release the free-run must, which is then subjected to static clarification. The alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel containers at a controlled temperature of about 19 °C. The wine is then racked and aged for a few months on its own yeasts, in stainless steel containers.

This Sauvignon presents itself visually with a bright straw yellow color with slight greenish reflections. On the nose, aromas of crunchy fruit appear, including green apple, citrus, and gooseberry, floral notes of elderflower, intense vegetal hints, and aromatic herbs, including sage. On the palate, it is slim, lively, elegant, and well-balanced, with a freshness and sapidity that blend into a finish of great persistence.
