Primitivo 'La Signora' Morella 2017

The Primitivo "La Signora" from the Morella winery is a wine that, as suggested by the label itself with the Latin expression "sic et simpliciter," anticipates what are the characteristics that are part of this expression of Primitivo. "Thus and simply" is a sincere interpretation of a territory and a vine that is finding themselves together, creating a syntony capable of deflagrating aromas and perfumes of absolute quality and making the lucky drinker fall in love.

"La Signora" Primitivo de la Morella sees its clusters growing in vineyards made up of ancient saplings about 55 years old. A new cru, which gives its name to the wine and which rises halfway between the sea and Manduria, on red soil and worked with traditional and biodynamic methods. Once the harvest has started and the fruit has been transferred to the cellar, fermentation awaits inside temperature-controlled vats at around 28°C, and a punctual manual punching-down is carried out. After a soft pressing with a manual press, maturation occurs inside Allier barriques (France) for 12 months, followed by final ageing in the bottle for an additional 24 months.

Morella winery's Primitivo "La Signora" tints the glass with a deep, intense ruby red, the typical colour of the grape variety. Cherry and blueberry mark the nose, where Mediterranean scents such as lavender and laurel fill the breath with fragrant elegance. Balsamic hints and black pepper and clove aromas close the bouquet and invite drinking. A delicate but firm tannin opens the soft and velvety sip, followed by a consistent ripe red fruit flavour to resume the olfactory tasting. Long and full, this Primitivo has big shoulders to be able to hold up to pairings with highly structured dishes and the sublime ability to transport mind and heart to that wonderful place we call Puglia.
