Kepos Ampeleia 2020

Ampeleia's Kepos is a label with a strong personality with a typically Mediterranean profile. It is born in the heart of the Tuscan Maremma, in the hilly area between the Tyrrhenian coast and Roccatederighi, in the province of Grosseto. It is a particular wine, the result of a blend of wide red grape varieties, which sincerely expresses the peculiarities of the wonderful territory of origin, with vineyards still immersed in wild and unspoiled nature. It is a bottle, which due to the soil and climate characteristics of the area and the use of many grape varieties, may remind one of wines from the south of France.

The grapes used to create the Kepos blend come from the estate's vineyards grown in the area closest to the sea, where the hot, dry climate is always mitigated by the gentle breezes of the Tyrrhenian Sea. The varieties used to produce this fascinating red are many, but the main ones are Alicante, Carignano and Mourvedre. Fermentations are carried out with indigenous yeasts, and to preserve the original peculiarities of the grape and its primary aromas, ageing takes place in cement vats, an inert material that does not yield aromas to the wine and preserves all its vital and natural varietal expression. After about a year in cement, Kepos completes its ageing with 6 months in a bottle.

Kepos wine represents a beautiful and sunny expression of the beautiful region of the Tuscan Maremma. It is a wine son of its land, its warm climate, the scents of a strong and lush nature. In the goblet, it presents itself with a bright ruby red colour. The bouquet expresses the ripe aromas of small berries, enhanced by delicate spicy notes and herbs of the Mediterranean scrub. The sip is dynamic and elegant, soft and harmonious, with a fine tannic texture and pleasant final freshness. It is a medium-bodied red, ideal to accompany savoury first courses or roasted or grilled meats.
